Switch Cargo and Energy Cube.

The Switch was our first development order for a vehicle of this kind. Although from the outside it looks like a "normal" e-vehicle for a last mile delivery application, it is extraordinary in many ways. The development from the first design sketch to the fully drivable prototype took only 8 months! The consequent reduction to the specific customer requirements and basic features such as electric windows, air conditioning, navigation system, rear view camera, ABS etc. is the key to success.

SWITCH CARGO

E-vehicle with load-bearing fibre composite structure developed specifically for logistics applications in the Chinese market.

The Switch is also the first vehicle of its kind in the world to have a load-bearing structure consisting of only a few fibre composite parts. This method makes economical production of small quantities possible and opens up completely new possibilities for approaching vehicle development ergonomically, economically and, last but not least, ecologically.

Absolute flexibility thanks to modular battery system. The Energy Cube makes new mobility concepts possible!

For our technology partner Unicorn Energy, we developed parts of the hardware for the first generation of the Energy Cube and we now supply the housings. We also developed the second generation of the Energy Cube together with Unicorn and, thanks to our global supplier network, we supply the housings and battery holders for this product as well. This project is a very good example of how to use the strengths of UMECS partners to develop a really great product.

OUR PROTOTYPES.

Switch City Coupé, Switch Pick Up and ATV.

The City Coupé Concept Car was developed on the basis of the Switch Cargo structure and was designed and then built within a very short time as a show car for a trade fair. In just a few weeks, a development stage was reached that would also have allowed the construction of drivable prototypes. The speed and the extremely low development and tooling costs for the project confirmed that this construction method is suitable for generating economically sustainable, local solutions for a local environment, especially for fleet customers with a special demand for design, ergonomics or a specific environment.

ATV

An autonomously driving packing station developed for the Chinese market.


The ATV has been designed as an autonomous driving delivery station by a large Chinese software company. We developed the vehicle structure and most of the mechanical components with our development partners. The integration of existing electronic components, the drive and the battery system were the challenges. Thanks to the fibre composite design, we were able to provide the manufacturer with hardware for testing and approval within just a few weeks.

OUR CONCEPTS.

The Airport Carrier & Logistic.

In this project, which we are developing in cooperation with an international airport, we are trying to respond to the special requirements of airport logistics with concepts.

These are, for example, access on the ground vs. exit at a height of 5 metres, semiautonomous driving to save costs in certain driving situations and processes, no public traffic, maximum speeds of less than 50 km/h, wind on the tarmac – to name just a few. Especially the extreme manoeuvrability and the loading and unloading at different heights make such a concept highly exciting also for logistics requirements in urban areas.
